The Voyage of the Komagata Maru: The Sikh Challenge to Canada's Colour Bar. Page 1, note 1

1 Hopkinson is listed in Thackers Directory, 1907, as Inspector of Police, section B, 18 Cossipore Rd., Calcutta. He appears in the Vancouver Directory for the first time in 1908 at 551 Richards. At the time of his death, there was some confusion about his place and date of birth. The baptismal records of the India Office Library show Delhi, 16 June 1880.
